Near by the Old Bridge in Mostar, on the right bank of Neretva, we can
find Kriva ćuprija. There is no exact information about the bridge, but we
believe that it was constructed before 1558, which makes it even older then the
Old Bridge. This is probably the reason why people think the Old Bridge got its
shape after this smaller bridge, because they are very similar.
The river Radobolje flows beneath Kriva ćuprija and joins Neretva on the
place where we find the Old Bridge. Even though Neretva is called the
green-eyed beauty of Herzegovina, Radobolje is also a momentous river.
During the last war, Kriva ćuprija was extremely damaged, but it was
totally destroyed years later when strong water current tore it down. The
bridge is rebuilt in the same period as the Old Bridge. The Great Bridge and
his companion are not complete without each other.
